NL MAY/JUNE 2004 ~
DAD'S VISIT TO NETHERLANDS & GERMANY

My dad, George Donneo came to visit us in Holland in end of May
till June
2004 for about 3.5 weeks. We went to pick him up on Thursday,
public holiday
for the "pinksteren". Since it was a last minute
arrangement, both Wim and I
did not manage to take long holidays. Nevertheless we manage to
bring dad to
go sightseeing during the weekend and on Wim's off days. Most of
his tour
were in the camera, but there were times when they went together
without me
(I had to work), they forgot to bring the precious camera.
hahaha... MY
precious camera. (3 cameras at home but none was taken with them...

The
China Boat in Rotterdam, near the Euromas tower:
hotel, restaurant and supermarket. Dad in front of the entrance to the
Boat. We went there shopping for Asian food.

At the back of dad is the water where under it, is a tunnel, called the
Maastunnel. A tunnel under the water.

Dad went to Oosterscheldam in Zeeland but no photographs here, in front of the North Sea in Zeeland.
GERMANY

On my dad's first day in Holland, we told him that we had
planned months ago to go to Uncle Erich Schneider in Bodenheim,
near Mainz city in Germany in end-May. Dad was so happy to know
that he would be going to Germany and not only in Holland. So,
we drove to Germany and in the autobahn, there is no speed
limit. When dad saw Wim drove about 180km/h, he was so quiet,
sat tightly and gripped the handle without letting it go. I
noticed that and told Wim to slow down a bit. Poor dad. :-)

Erich Schneider is German and was once married to dad's first
cousin, Caroline Jayasuriya. I met him through this site when he
was surfing and looking for my uncle James Ligunjang. Since then
we became friends. But I still call him uncle due to our past
relationship and also the respect.

The water is the Rhyne River and taken from the top of a hill in
Nierstein. The green plants are the grapes. Nierstein is popular
with good wine and liquor because of the good red soil.

A DAY VISIT TO AMSTERDAM, THE CAPITAL OF NL

We went by train to Amsterdam. It's the easiest way to reach
there without having to worry where to park your car. Finding a
car park is not fun there.
